STARK NAACP REWARDS SEVERAL FROM SOMMUNITY

CANTON The Stark County chapter of the NAACP recently honored several community members and organizations during its 76th annual state convention.
Among the winners:
n Sandy Wolmack was given an education award for his efforts at Canton City Schools.
n The Rev. Robert Dye from St. Paul AME Church won a pastor support award.
n Will Dent, chief executive officer of ABCD housing, and George Armatas of Armatas Construction, were lauded for community service.
n Attorney Allen Schulman won an award for community support.
"People don't know all the things Allen Schulman does for the community as a whole," said Moniquec Conner, president of the Stark chapter of the NAACP.
Member of the year award went to Mary Blackstone of Canton.
The local and state community services awards went to the Canton Negro Old Timers Association. Clearview Golf Course owner William Powell was honored with a lifetime achievement award.
Awards were based on different community efforts and reviewed by state and local officials, Conner said.
